I think this is the area for "let's meet me". Well. . .

I'm a DTE (Detroit Edison) employee. My goal is to go as "green" as I can, but who knows if that fits the company I work for. I want to be Green, so, to hell with them. Let's move on. . .

Being a bit older than most of you (without giving up my age to be "tracked" by my "e"), I have always wanted to be self-sufficent pertaining to the electric power I used. Maybe it was because I knew (and know) about power and it's consumption (on a personal/professional/household level) that persuades me sign-up to this forum.

We - each of us - can make small decisions (and actions), that will cut our usage of power that each of us require. Personally, my first step has been to cut the usage of foreign oil, then US coal. As for the "US coal", which is what my company uses, I would like trim my household energy costs by not using as much electricity (which translates to coal burning).

That is why I signed up to this forum. I am asking this membership; how can I lower my electricity bill by using more energy efficient appliances, like LED lighting?

If there isn't a thread, let us start one. I want to replace my existing lighting is my home with the exact same lighting (visual) as I have, but by using less power, aka, LED lighting. My wife and I want the same incandecent warmth as what we have now. How do we arrive at that, using Kelvin or Correlated Color Temperature (CCT)? I've been surfing for 3 hours now and nada. The folks that want our money - they do not have it out there.

I am hoping that this forum will generate some dialog that will help find some solutions to curtail our energy usage. I'm sure there are many intelligent individuals here that can contribute.
